Insurance that we include as part of our rental service
All vehicles are hired subject to our standard Rental Agreement.
Insurances and waivers exclude damages to personal property.
The policy covers the insured vehicle on an all risks basis except for tyre, rims, glass and windscreen (T&W). The windscreen and side or rear windows all form part of the T&W insured of the rent vehicle. T&W can be purchased separately which will reduce the Lessee/driver's liability in respect of any damages to tyres, rims and glass.
Without T&W insurance - for normal excess and excess reduction the lessee/driver is liable for up to the full excess amount for all the occurred damage to the vehicle, including the damage incurred by others (third party).
With T&W insurance - next to the reduction of the excess the insurance includes the glass and tyre insurance, as well as damage by a third party. The lessee/driver is only liable for self-inflicted damage for up to the full excess amount.
All vehicles carry a full third parties insurance in respect of any accidents caused by or through or in connection with the insured vehicle is covered.
In the event of an insurance claim arising, the renter will be held liable for the chosen level of excess which must be provided by the renter by means of credit card or cash. The excess amount of the vehicle can be reduced (reduced excess) against payment of a daily fee.
No vehicle may be taken outside Namibia without prior written approval and a cross-border permit.
Long term and one-way rentals are available on request.
All insurance cover ceases if:
- Anyone else except the lessee/driver is driving the vehicle.
- The lessee/driver is not in possession of a valid driving licence.
- The driver (lessee) was under the influence of alcohol or any type of drugs.
- As a result of the negligence of the lessee/driver.
- Where an incident is not reported of the police within 24 hours of the occurrence.
- Where an incident takes place outside the country in which the vehicle was rented unless prior written authority from Pro-Ex Car Rentals.
Loss of keys
A key forms part of a vehicle whilst it is in the ignition switch of such vehicle. If the key is stolen from the ignition switch, in the event of theft of the vehicle itself, the loss will be covered subject to the excess payable.
The cover is only in respect of the part, i.e. the key, which was lost and doesn't include, for example, the cost of replacing the locks or the reprogramming of any coded alarm or similar system of the vehicle.
Most keys, however, are lost when they are removed from the vehicle's ignition switch in which case they are no longer covered nor is the costs of replacing the vehicle's ignition switch in which case they are no longer covered nor is the costs of replacing the vehicle's locks.
Any insurance ceases for damages obtained due to negligence and the lessee/driver will be liable for the full amount of damages and for the third parties damages and also the tow-in costs.
The Road Traffic Fund provides compensation in respect of persons who are killed or injured in road accidents. (Only Namibians). Please acquaint yourselves with their terms and conditions on their website as it can change from time to time.
